There’s a Plan, You See

Earth

I was falling in an empty forest
I was one hand clapping
You came needing to my door
And I awoke to your gentle tapping

Hold someone’s hand and make someone smile
Forget where you are going, if only for a while
Find your purpose, And nurture your gifts
To find your place to serve and exist

Know that your failures are the salt of life
They exist between try and achieve
They shine and polish your gifts
And your direction to believe

The Sun also Rises …Again

with 2 comments

I will rise again

The world’s now betrayed me,
That hope-myth collage
My dreams have escaped me
Like a shimmering mirage.

Now what should I do
When all my world’s false?
When I’ve lost all my ideals
And all that I was taught

I find the purest line
That I can follow true
And I create bright new principles
New dreams and new values

I look for authenticity
And I take emotional risks
I build my own true code
And I create my own true mix

I now reject your past
It’s not effective any more
I now reject your rules
For my own path to explore

I find my own private self
Beyond your old moralities
Beyond your values and beliefs
Built on authentic practicalities

* Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s – “The Sun Also Rises”.

The Universe doesn’t Know

without comments

Cosmos

Ah…the universe doesn’t know
The truth of what’s beauty
The truth of what’s right.
It doesn’t know the future
It awaits our answer
As we compete and fight.

The answer we build together
From competition
From risks and duress.
And of the many who strive
Some will fail
Some will sow progress.

Our birth and death
Show we are links
In a millennial chain.
That we are but stardust…
We’re from the stars
And shall return again.

Respect for the Fallen

without comments

Respect-For-The-Fallen

The stadium was decked out
In red, white and blue
After palpable tension
The Marseillaise rang true
Respect was shown
And all honoured the fallen
They played tentatively first
Unprocessed shock callin’

But then a game broke out
As competition drove play
And the beautiful game
Became a healing ballet
And in union fans sang
And their flags they waved
A commonplace reminder
Of what’s to be saved

An immaculate ceremony
Of solidarity and communion
A mass catharsis
With defiance in union
It was important to say
We stand united against horror
That has no religion…
And has no colour.

Fairytale

Sometimes I take refuge
In childhood fairytales
Where right hero defeats wrong villain
And pure heart rips through malevolent veils
It stills my beating heart and
Soothes my aching searching soul
It is a little Light to give some hope
When a complex Universe takes its toll

But you say you speak for God
…Do not lie to me
If God exists he wants big answers
And not your ugly atrocity
History is filled with liars
Who say what God would say
Before they lead people blindly
Into some barbaric play

The universe asked a question
“What is the best way to exist?”
Many civilisations have answered
“This way is best we insist”
Many Messiahs stood alone
And answered with their vision
A step for the next Messiah to see more
And to offer the next revision

No one knows the future
Only death is certain
The Universe was created
Does God know the intention?
Man created fairytales
As a Light to help us for Good
But in Paris they spread darkness
In a way no loving God would

Later I will Dance

with 2 comments

Later I will rationalise
Today I will mourn
Later I will dance
Today I will be forlorn
Later I will forgive
Today I will rage
Later I will be grown up
Today I will be a child’s age
Later I will laugh again
Today I will cry
Later I will understand
Today I will ask why

Je Suis Paris

without comments

They were young and beautiful
Those who died
Their happy faces haunt me
I felt impotent as I cried
I want to rage
Because it was so unfair
I want to scream
And rip myself bare
I want to lash out
And kill them in their lair
I want retribution
For atrocities committed there

Drugged on a twisted cult
They were young and black with hate
Dehumanised by cherry picked images
Their reason immobilised by rage
They wanted to believe the lies
To exchange loneliness and alienation
For the brotherhood of a cause
For glory and eternal salvation
They sacrificed themselves
To kill like a machine
They will never know the lies
Or know what it all means

They are a cancer
Rising in the Middle East
It sounds old medieval
It smells of the Beast
They have shown the world
They can sow brutal seeds
But much more food is needed
For an effective society to feed
We believe in our secular society
Where love and peace can grow clear
We will stand together
We weep but will never fear

Fruit

without comments

Fruit

Pass me that old red wine
In our room of light and shade
Where we joined all night before
On our stained bed now unmade
I smell uneaten cheese
And see flesh oozing quietly
I worship on an unswept floor
As you open your legs slightly

The nippled mound of breast
On a belly curve alighting
Above unshaven hair curling
And lips, dark and inviting
I smell the musk of mother earth
Dappled under sun brightly
I feel the swell of blood again
As you open your legs slightly

I’ve stripped layers from you
To reach your unnourished soul
I’ve reached deep inside you
To join you and make you whole
I feel you cry and tense your legs
I glide on our sweat quietly
I explode inside you again
As you open your eyes slightly

Meaning

without comments

Earth

I ain’t seen you around here lately
It’s been a while since we loved way back then
We both tried and I know that we’ve been hurt greatly
We talked for while until you said when
…I walked away and I thought again

We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
We’ve asked the moon and we’ve asked the sun
We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
We’ve searched in the face of everyone

I sat by the ocean and I wanted it to take me
To where mermaids and Leviathan sleep
Beneath the rolling, crashing white waves
Into the quiet and the darkness of the deep,
…there to find the answers that I seek

We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
As Autumn leaves blow from the trees
We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
We chase mermaids in the rolling grey seas

The stars were turning and the earth was shifting
While seasons spoke of renewal and rebirth
I found my gift and I felt something lifting
I sowed some seeds & I pulled some weeds from the earth
…And I moved with the turning of the Earth

We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
I sowed some seeds & I pulled some weeds from the earth
We’re looking for meaning
….Looking for meaning
I moved with the turning of the Earth.

Dream (Draft)

without comments

shimmering

I move over shimmering waters,
I see my refection in the deep.
I create what I thought was good,
I sow what I thought I’d reap.
I hear a trumpet sound,
At dawn on a lonely hill.
I see a white bird flying south,
As a lion feeds on its kill.

I see a baby born,
All crying and bloody red.
With his mother’s hair matted,
As she sleeps in her lonely bed.
I dig deep in the earth,
All wet, sticky and black.
I am soaked by the rain,
But I will never turn back.

I see my love measured out,
Into fine, crystal glasses.
All handed out anxiously,
To the next person who passes.
I see my hands rise,
As the rain falls from the sky.
And the mud on my forearms shakes,
With every screaming cry….

I see the sun rise
And fall to the earth again
I see the leaves grow and die
In a forest that still remains
In the evening I await,
The white bird to fly
I’m in need of forgiveness,
And the peace it can buy.
